About Us

We are here to help parents raise happy and healthy children

We all need support through the most important period of our childhood: the early years

Tengecha Girls Boarding Primary school is a public school managed by the school Board of Management. It is located in Kericho County, Bureti Sub-county in Kapkatet ward. The school was founded by the Board of Governors – Tengecha High School as a brain child of the late former Principal of Tengecha High school (Mr. Charles Cheruiyot) in 1987 as a mixed school.  It is sponsored by the African Inland Church.

The aim of starting the school was to provide the best quality education and to enhance Academic performance in the original Kericho District (Current Kericho and Bomet Counties.)

It started with an enrollment of 67 boys and 48 girls in std 5 as boarders.

To promote Girl child education, the girls were separated from boys and the two schools ran independently with deputy headteachers in charge operating under the then principal of Tengecha High School.

The initial school location is where Tengecha Girls Secondary school currently is. The school was moved to its current location by the Board of Governors – Tengecha schools in the year 2002 to help restore sanity in Tengecha High school which was a mixed school then. In the same year 1996, girls were separated from boys and the school became independent. Headteachers were appointed for the primary school and Mrs. Sally Koech was the first headteacher who served from 1996 to 2018 and then Mrs. Beatrice Kirui took over who still serves to date.

Pre- school begun in 1991 which made the school a complete one from pre school all the way to standard 8. Admission was competitive at entry stages of PP1 and standard 6.

Currently the school has an enrollment of 55 pre school learners, 350 lower primary learners and 330 junior school learners.  There are 5 pre school teachers, 12 lower primary school teachers and 8 junior school teachers. The school has 12 support/ essential staff members.

Early grade learners and Grade 1-4 are day scholars, grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 are all Boarders.

Our institution is one of the best performing public schools in National examinations. It is among the top ten in the county of Kericho. We take part fully in co-curricular activities as provided for in the curriculum.

What parent say
Our daughters have blossomed at this school! They've made great friends, taken on leadership roles and found new passions. The teachers are amazing - so dedicated and supportive. The school truly values and nurtures each child, and we've seen our daughters become more confident, more resilient and more academically ambitious. We couldn't be happier with their experience.
